A few weeks ago I mentioned we harvested a whole bunch of beets from our garden to make pickled beets. I shared how to preserve the beet greens but since then a lot of folks have been asking for my pickled beets recipe. Well today is the day you will learn my secret recipe for making and canning pickled beets!

The pickled beets I make are made with apple cider vinegar and honey instead of distilled white vinegar and sugar. They have a delicious flavor and are healthier than ones made with processed white vinegar and sugar.

Today I actually had the opportunity to guest post over at one of our favorite homesteading blogs, The Prairie Homestead.  To read the rest of this post and get my secret recipe for canning pickled beets with apple cider vinegar and honey

Wow, thank you for sharing and from so far away! That’s wonderful you’re going to try growing some this fall. Our spring crop of beets did so well I still have quite a few left in the garden to make another big batch of these so I won’t need to grow anymore in a fall garden. Best of luck in your fall growing and hope you enjoy the recipe- they’re so yummy!

Hello I'm Annie and welcome to our blog!

I was raised in an old farmhouse in the country and taught by three generations of women in my family to cook from scratch, can and preserve food, nurture plants to grow, craft with my hands, and live a simple, meaningful life. Now I'm teaching my own children these skills on our little homestead in Montana. I'm sharing these vintage skills here so you too can live a simple, more connected homemade life- one canning jar at a time! Read more...
