This week is not only the end of the year 2014, but also this blog’s one year anniversary! Overall it has been a wonderful year filled with new adventures, accomplishments and a few challenges thrown in to keep us grounded. Our Etsy shop  had a record year for sales which we are especially grateful for as we strive to one day earn all our income while working from home on our little homestead in rural Montana.

We want to thank you all for visiting our blog and following along with our adventures in modern day homesteading. We truly appreciate your comments, hearing your stories and tips, and the support you all offered when we were facing some rough times. The end of the year is a great time for reflection so I thought I’d share our top homesteading posts of the last year.

Top Inspiring Homesteading Posts of 2014

As I looked back over the blog posts written here this last year, there are two posts that stand out as the most powerful and supportive. The first one was written in the spring when we were feeling pretty discouraged about the The Financial Challenges of Homesteading. Many of you offered supportive, encouraging words that helped us move forward and adjust our plans for the year.

The other post that was difficult but empowering for me to write was The Power of Positive Thinking on the Homestead. In this post I shared about a string of bad experiences we had like my five day hospitalization and one of our dogs getting shot. Many of you offered words of encouragement and support which we truly appreciated.

Hello I'm Annie and welcome to our blog!

I was raised in an old farmhouse in the country and taught by three generations of women in my family to cook from scratch, can and preserve food, nurture plants to grow, craft with my hands, and live a simple, meaningful life. Now I'm teaching my own children these skills on our little homestead in Montana. I'm sharing these vintage skills here so you too can live a simple, more connected homemade life- one canning jar at a time! Read more...
