Over the last several years as my knowledge of using medicinal herbs has grown, so has my medicinal herb garden outside. We are blessed to live in a rural state with countless medicinal herbs growing wild in the prairies and mountainsides. While I love to head into the woods to wild harvest herbs, I also love keeping a medicinal herb garden at home. When I’m cooking, I love to head outdoors to the herb garden and harvest fresh herbs to use in my cooking. I dry herbs from the garden to use in cooking, teas, infused oils and tinctures that are all part of our natural herbal medicine cabinet.

I have medicinal herb books that are filled with hundreds of different herbs. It can be overwhelming to know which ones you want to wild harvest or grow in an herb garden. My herb garden started out a few years ago with peppermint, chives, chammomile and feaverfew plants I got for free on Freecycle. Each year I add more herbs to the garden and it grows and grows. Once our plants start growing again as it warms up here, we’ll be sharing more about our medicinal herb garden.

To learn more about some of the best medicinal herbs to grow, you definitely need to check out this week’s featured post:  Must Have, Must Grow Medicinal Herbs from Homestead Lady.  I loved how she listed the herbs, some basics on how to grow them and medicinal uses for each herb.

Now on to this week’s edition of Green Thumb Thursday!

оf course liқe your website but you havе to check the spelling on several of your posts.

Several of them are rife with sρelling problems and I to
find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the othеr hand I’ll certainly come back again.

Hello I'm Annie and welcome to our blog!

I was raised in an old farmhouse in the country and taught by three generations of women in my family to cook from scratch, can and preserve food, nurture plants to grow, craft with my hands, and live a simple, meaningful life. Now I'm teaching my own children these skills on our little homestead in Montana. I'm sharing these vintage skills here so you too can live a simple, more connected homemade life- one canning jar at a time! Read more...
