It has been a bit quiet on the blog since we shared last week’s Green Thumb Thursday post. Why? Our local internet service crashed the end of last week during a big snowstorm and we were without internet for a few days. They did a temporary fix but the service is frustratingly slow. For a family that works online, this is a big deal! Amazingly I was able to finally get it to load the admin page of the blog so I could at least come in here and share the weekly Green Thumb Thursday link up post with you today!

My choice this week for the featured post this week was Growing Asparagus: A Journey in Patience from Jahner Farmstead. I love fresh asparagus and tried growing it a few years ago. Unfortunately it did not do well where we planted it in the garden at our old house. I was disappointed we were never able to harvest any asparagus. After reading the tips they shared on growing asparagus, we’re going to try it again this year. I’m hopefully we’ll be successful this time!

Hello I'm Annie and welcome to our blog!

I was raised in an old farmhouse in the country and taught by three generations of women in my family to cook from scratch, can and preserve food, nurture plants to grow, craft with my hands, and live a simple, meaningful life. Now I'm teaching my own children these skills on our little homestead in Montana. I'm sharing these vintage skills here so you too can live a simple, more connected homemade life- one canning jar at a time! Read more...
