I can still remember the Thanksgiving when I was a kid the year my mom first made this delicious raw Cranberry Orange Relish. I used to be so grossed out by the cranberry sauce that came out of the can all jelled together in the shape of a can. Ick! I swore off all things cranberry after seeing that. Then my mom discovered this Cranberry Orange Relish recipe and kicked my dislike of anything cranberry straight to the curb. I was hooked! This delicious dish perfectly melds the tart flavor of raw cranberries with the sweetness of oranges and a touch of honey to tie it all together. So delicious!!Honey sweetened raw cranberry orange relish salad

The original recipe my mom made years ago actually calls for sugar, a lot of sugar, to sweeten the Cranberry Orange Relish. Over the years I’ve reduced my sugar intake and actually switched over to mostly using just honey from our beehives as our sweetener of choice. Now when I make this recipe for our family’s Thanksgiving dinner every year, I only use honey to sweeten it and it has become a family favorite!

This recipe is super easy to make. I kid you not, it takes only a few minutes to whip up this delicious side dish! This recipe is so easy that two year old Little Brother even helps me make it. He just loves to push the button on the food processor to chop everything up (supervised by this mama of course!) This is another reason why I love my food processor, I can make delicious homemade recipes like this is a matter of minutes! (We have one like this and absolutely love it)

How to make Raw Cranberry Orange Relish Sweetened with Honey

This recipe makes 6 cups of relish which is the perfect amount to feed a table full of our Thanksgiving guests and have a little left over.

Ingredients:
2  12 ounce bags fresh, raw cranberries

2 whole oranges

honey to taste, approximately 1/4 cup-1 cup depending on your preferred level of sweetness

Directions:

Step 1: Wash the cranberries in a colander and drain the water off. Pour the cranberries into a food processor and pulse to coarsely chop. Then pour the chopped cranberries into a large bowl.

Step 2: Peel and seed the oranges. Take the orange apart and place the sections in the food processor. Pulse until coarsely chopped into small pieces. Then pour the chopped oranges into the bowl with the cranberries.

Step 3: Stir the cranberries and oranges together in the bowl. Drizzle honey over top and mix it in to your desired level of sweetness.

This raw Cranberry Orange Relish should be stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. We love to eat it in a small dish like a side salad or spread on top of our roast turkey. Anyway you eat it, this honey sweetened raw Cranberry Orange Relish is so delicious and way better than the gelatinous goop of cranberry sauce from a can!

Hello I'm Annie and welcome to our blog!

I was raised in an old farmhouse in the country and taught by three generations of women in my family to cook from scratch, can and preserve food, nurture plants to grow, craft with my hands, and live a simple, meaningful life. Now I'm teaching my own children these skills on our little homestead in Montana. I'm sharing these vintage skills here so you too can live a simple, more connected homemade life- one canning jar at a time! Read more...
