Winter garden planning: the perfect thing to do when it is bitterly cold outside! As I write this, it is -1 outside. It is supposed to be at least -10 tonight so we’re busy stocking the wood stove to keep warm. One of the only good things about being stuck inside on a bitterly cold day like this is having some down time to plan for the projects on our homestead goals.
My husband and I have been pouring over the Johnny’s Selected Seeds catalog and discussing plans for our garden. We’re hoping to be able to build a hoop house to extend our short growing season. My husband has also been researching plans to build a chicken tractor, coop and bee hives. He’s pretty handy in his wood shop so we figure if he can build these things for us it will save money by not buying them pre-made.
With all this planning and being cooped up inside, we’re getting some major cabin fever! We can’t wait to get outside and start digging, building and putting our plans into action. I’ve been so inspired by all the posts shared on Green Thumb Thursday each week. I can’t wait to see what you all share this week!
